Wa. Curtin et al., PANCREATITIS AFTER ALAR-TRANSVERSE FUSION FOR SPONDYLOLISTHESIS - A CASE-REPORT, Clinical orthopaedics and related research, (292), 1993, pp. 142-143
Acute pancreatitis complicated the postoperative care of a 16-year-old
girl treated by alar-transverse fusion for spondylolisthesis. Pancrea
titis was diagnosed by a marked increase in plasma amylase in conjunct
ion with abdominal ultrasonography. Symptoms resolved with conservativ
e treatment. Pancreatitis should be suspected when unusual abdominal s
ymptoms persist after spinal surgery.
