INVESTIGATION OF DIMETHYLDIOXIRANE AS A BLEACHING REAGENT FOR KRAFT PULP

The bleaching efficiency of dimethyldioxirane was explored for softwoo d kraft pulps. Preliminary studies demonstrated that kraft pulps could be delignified with dimethyldioxirane. Initial bleaching studies empl oyed dimethyldioxirane prepared by distillation or in-situ from peroxy mosulfate, acetone, water, and sodium bicarbonate Further studies esta blished that the bleaching reagents could be premixed and added to pul p to afford a comparable bleaching result.
