To be effective in today's computerized environment, bibliographic ins
truction programs must include appropriately modern facilities. Instru
ction rooms that incorporate patron-use computers and related electron
ic equipment allow librarians to demonstrate and students to practice
using various new information technologies. This article examines how
librarians at one university developed a proposal for, helped design,
and obtained funding for a new BI facility.
