Md. Migahed et al., COMPATIBILITY OF POLYACRYLONITRILE-BUTADIENE WITH POLYVINYLCHLORIDE AS EXPLORED BY THERMALLY STIMULATED DEPOLARIZATION CURRENT, Polymer testing, 12(4), 1993, pp. 335-349
Thermally stimulated depolarization current spectra in poly-blends of
polyvinylchloride(PVC)/polyacrylonitrile-butadiene (NBR) films have be
en investigated. With the aid of a thermal sampling technique, the com
plex spectra could be resolved into their elementary processes. PVC an
d NBR were found to be miscible as evidenced by the existence of the c
ompensation law. The dependence of the compensation temperature on the
nitrile content confirms that dipole-dipole interaction was the most
likely in this system. Hence, we are led to conclude that PVC and NBR
are thermodynamically miscible.
