A new procedure for determination of stability constants by means of p
ulse voltammetry at microelectrodes is presented. Normal pulse voltamm
etry at a copper microdisk electrode was employed to determine stabili
ty constants of the dichlorcuprate(I) complex ion in aqueous solution.
Copper(I) ions were generated during pulses to positive potentials an
d the value of the overall formation constant was determined from the
shift in potential of normal pulse voltammograms. The method gives fas
t and reliable measurements of stability constants and extends the ran
ge of possible measurements.
