D. Bukovic et al., MECHANICAL-BEHAVIOR OF LUMBOSACRAL SPINE CAUSED BY ALTERED BIOMECHANICAL CONDITIONS IN ADVANCED PREGNANCY, Collegium antropologicum, 17(1), 1993, pp. 103-109
The authors have been researching the curve of the lumbosacral bend at
285 healthy women in confinement immediately after delivery, 26 pregn
ant women immediately before medically indicated abortion and 142 wome
n outside pregnancy for a year or more. By measuring the characteristi
c points on lateral roentgenograms of lumbosacral spine it has been es
tablished that pregnancy and birth are rebuilding and accommodating i.
e. straightening the spine, the more the term is nearer, making delive
ry easier, compensating the changes of the L-S spine curve and birth c
anal conditioned by upright gait.
