Abstract
The possibility of using sodium-chloride ion exchange for water pretre atment before membrane demineralization was studied. The parameters of the water obtained are: permanganate oxygen demand, lower than 1.0 mg O2/dm 3; MF0.45, lower than 150 s; amount of total iron, lower than 5 0 mu/dm3. This water meets the requirements for all reverse osmosis an d electrodialysis membranes.
