Abstract
In this paper the discovery is presented that FTIR microspectroscopy i s also suitable for the micro-analysis of very thin organic layers in the range of 3.6 to 36 nm on chalcogenide fibers. Theoretical confirma tion using the ray-tracing method is given and the observation of ultr a-thin coatings on fibers is made possible by a signal enhancement com pared to planar substrates due to the geometry of the fiber.
