Zn2-xMnxSiO4 is an efficient phosphor for plasma display panels. Howev
er, it is not usable for TV applications because of its too long decay
around 30 ms. In this study, we have investigated the decrease of the
decay time of Zn2-xMnxSiO4 phosphors synthesized by solid-state react
ion. Photoluminescence decay values as low as 3 to 6 ms have been obta
ined while keeping high luminance. Other results regarding these phosp
hors are presented and discussed.
