I. Scheffler et M. Dombrowski, BEHAVIORAL-RESPONSES OF BLATTELLA-GERMANICA L (ORTHOPT, BLATTELLIDAE)INDUCED BY REPELLENT PLANT-EXTRACTS, Journal of applied entomology, 115(5), 1993, pp. 499-505
350 plant extracts were studied regarding to their characteristic repe
llency to Blattella germanica by means of a preference method. The rep
ellency value reveals strong dispersion variation within plant familie
s and, in some cases, also within genera. The individual developmental
stages and sexes of B. germanica reveal differing behavioural pattern
s concerning test extracts. In the case of the strongly repellent extr
acts from Citrus sinensis and Allium sativum, there are indications fo
r habituation processes regarding the repelling stimuli during long-te
rm tests.
