Dt. Gibson et al., OXIDATION OF POLYCHLORINATED-BIPHENYLS BY PSEUDOMONAS SP STRAIN LB400AND PSEUDOMONAS-PSEUDOALCALIGENES KF707, Journal of bacteriology, 175(14), 1993, pp. 4561-4564
Biphenyl-grown cells and cell extracts prepared from biphenyl-grown ce
lls of Pseudomonas sp. strain LB400 oxidize a much wider range of chlo
rinated biphenyls than do analogous preparations from Pseudomonas pseu
doakaligenes KF707. These results are attributed to differences in the
substrate specificity of the biphenyl 2,3-dioxygenases from both orga
nisms.
