The results presented in this paper are based on research collaboratio
ns between the three institutions, namely: (1) Nanyang Technological U
niversity, (2) The University of Queensland and (3) National Universit
y of Singapore. A software code named 'SEPSA', an acronym for super el
ement for plate and shell analysis, has been developed. The software i
s applied to solve bending, buckling and vibration problems. The formu
lations and method of analysis are briefly discussed. Several advantag
es of the present method over other approximate discretization methods
are also addressed. To demonstrate the capability of SEPSA, some plat
e and shell solutions are presented.
