Aluminum present in pooled samples of cerebrospinal fluid is essential
ly uncomplexed since it may be determined by differential pulse polaro
graphy of the Al: Solochrome Violet RS (SVRS) complex. The aluminum ma
y also be determined spectrophotometrically through its depression of
the SVRS absorbance at 600 nm at pH 8.4. The Al:SVRS ratio in the comp
lex is 1:2.
