Cb. Huang et al., A NEW-TYPE OF NONPOISONOUS ADDITION AGENT FOR SUBSTITUTING MERCURY INZINC MANGANESE DRY CELLS, Journal of power sources, 45(2), 1993, pp. 169-175
By means of immersion test, a.c. impedance measurements and a bidirect
ional polarization study, a new type of composite addition agent has b
een developed for completely substituting mercury (compound) in zinc/m
anganese dry cells. Type R6P (AA-size, high power) mercury-free dry ce
lls assembled with pasted electrolyte paper that contains this additio
n agent instead of mercuric chloride have showed satisfactory performa
nce. For example, 95% of the original discharge capacity is still reta
ined after storage for one year.
