Abstract
In this correspondence, the convergence behavior of the median filter has been analyzed. A new concept called convergence point has been use d to characterize the convergence rates. The results show that any ind ependently identically distributed (i.i.d.) signal will become nearly stable after 3 or 4 passes of median filter with a large probability. Simulations are provided to illustrate the theoretical developments.
