EVALUATION OF SOLUBILITY IN POWDER INJECTION-MOLDING BINDERS

The aim of this study was to simplify evaluation of the mutual solubil ity of potential powder injection molding binder components. Methods o f evaluating and predicting the solubility of materials are introduced , emphasizing quantitative methods which employ the solubility paramet er. A group-contribution technique for the estimation of a solubility parameter for a material is presented along with some examples of its use. The proposed method is found to be a good predictor for the mutua l solubility of chemicals and powders used to formulate powder injecti on mold in binders.
