In ammonia buffer the shape of the waves formed in the presence of thi
oglycol acid is influenced by the relative amount of the buffer compon
ents. In Ni2+, 1 X 10(-3)M, NH4Cl, 2.5 X 10(-1)M, NH3, 1 X 10(-1)M and
thioglycol acid, 1 X 10(-7)M the polarogram is composed from two wave
s having maxima. In Ni2+, 0.8 X 10(-3)M, NH4Cl, 1 X 10(-1)M, NH3, 1 X
10(-2)M and thioglycol acid, 7 X 10(-6)M there are also two waves, but
only the second one has a round maximum. A rather different case was
obtained in Ni2+, 1 X 10(-8)M, NH4Cl, 5 X 10(-1)M, NH3, 5 X 10(-1)M an
d thioglycol acid, 7 X 10(-6)M; here the first wave is small and the s
econd one has a very sharp maximum. The effect of several parameters o
n these waves was studied.
