CELLULITIS

Most patients with cellulitis can be managed on an outpatient basis, f requently with a single dose of parenteral antibiotic followed by oral therapy. Cellulitis must first be differentiated from more serious so ft tissue infections that require aggressive inpatient therapy and per haps surgery. Patients with preexisting medical conditions, such as di abetes, need to be carefully followed if treated as outpatients.
