PYELONEPHRITIS

Outpatient therapy is currently recommended for women with uncomplicat ed pyelonephritis, not those with sepsis, renal insufficiency or patho logy, or significant underlying disease. Parenteral therapy is usually initiated in the emergency department, followed by oral therapy at ho me. Pregnant patients are hospitalized, though studies suggest that ou tpatient therapy may be appropriate.
