Abstract
Two approaches to outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy are commonl y used in the emergency care setting. One is daily administration of a parenteral antibiotic followed by oral therapy if clinical response h as been satisfactory. The other is administration of a single parenter al dose to initiate a course of oral therapy. Both treatment strategie s have proved effective in preliminary studies.
