The crystal structure of the complex (CO)5Cr-S(CH3)N(CH3)2 has been de
termined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The complex crys
tallizes in the monoclinic space group P 2(1)/c (No 14) with unit cell
dimensions, a=9.798(21), b=10.450(33), c=12.367(2) angstrom, beta=104
.02(17)-degrees, V=1228.7(5) angstrom3 and Z=4. The final R factor at
room temperature was 0.059 for 1079 unique observed reflections and 18
0 parameters. The metal atom is coordinated to sulfenamide ligand via
S atom and to five CO ligands in a slightly distorted octahedral arran
gement. The Cr-S bond length of 2.404(5) angstrom is significantly sho
rter than those reported for sulfenamide with bulky substituents on su
lfur atom.
