DETECTING WATER-QUALITY PARAMETERS IN THE NORFOLK BROADS, UK, USING LANDSAT IMAGERY

The water quality parameters chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus, Secchi d isk depth, suspended solids, salinity and temperature in the Norfolk B roads have been studied using Landsat TM data. An empirical approach o f relating TM data with ground referenced data for these parameters th rough regression analysis was employed. Significant relationships were established between them. These models were used to predict and map t hese parameters in 27 of the Norfolk Broads. All the predicted values are consistent with the available general knowledge about these Broads .
