Abstract
Encapsulation of amphotericin B in tuftsin-bearing liposomes greatly i ncreased its efficacy in treatment of human aspergillosis in mice. Als o, the drug efficacy was significantly increased by pretreating the an imals with drug-free tuftsin-bearing liposomes. These results demonstr ate that macrophage activation can considerably enhance the therapeuti c efficacy of antifungal drugs, like amphotericin B.
