Performance analysis of a double basin solar still coupled to a heat e
xchanger is presented. An overall system efficiency has been derived w
hich incorporates both direct solar gain to the still and the heat gai
n via heat exchanger. It is observed that the efficiency of the propos
ed system is considerably less than that of a comparable double basin
solar still without heat exchanger. The performance of the system was
also found to be a strong function of the heat exchanger parameters.
