Mj. Moya et al., GROWTH OF HAEMATOCOCCUS-LACUSTRIS - A CONTRIBUTION TO KINETIC MODELING, Journal of chemical technology and biotechnology, 68(3), 1997, pp. 303-309
The results of studies with the microalga Haematococcus lacustris, gro
wn under heterotrophic, autotrophic and mixotrophic conditions, were e
mployed to fit kinetic parameters such as specific growth rate, linear
growth rate and acetate consumption as a function of irradiance and a
cetate concentration. Growth was inhibited at the highest light intens
ities used, as was acetate uptake. The specific growth rate in mixotro
phic conditions was obtained by the addition of autotrophic and hetero
trophic components which were affected by a variable inhibition term d
epending on irradiance level and acetate concentration.
