Abstract
We report self-induced oscillations in a hollow cathode discharge. The effect of internal noise is modeled using a phenomenological complex Ginzburg-Landau type Model. Based on the observations and the model, i t is shown that the system transforms from a metastable ''window'' (4. 3-4.75 mA) to a stable period doubled state exponentially with time.
