Abstract
Previously unrecorded ichnotaxa from the Palaeogene Richmond Formation of eastern Jamaica, namely Cosmorhaphe cf. gracilis, Helminthoida cra ssa, Paleodictyon? isp. and Taenidium cameronensis, are described. The ichnotaxa are assigned to a previously defined deep-water Scolicia ic hnocoenosis characteristic of turbiditic strata. The general exclusion of graphoglyptids in these strata is believed to reflect a combinatio n of the relatively shallow-water depths in which the turbiditic strat a accumulated, the abundant organic matter available for biological co nsumption, and the existence of fluctuating dysaerobic/anoxic and oxyg enated conditions at, or immediately below, the sediment-water interfa ce.
