Multilayer stacks with up to 7 layers have been designed to provide hi
gh luminous transmittance together with low near-infrared transmittanc
e for unpolarized light incident at oblique angles. A substantial angu
lar dependence in transmission is obtained from both theory and experi
ment. Six different dielectric materials (MgF2, CaF2, SiO2, ZnS, TiO2
and WO3) and three metals (Ag, Al and Cr) were used in this study.
