K. Mukhopadhyay et al., DEPENDENCE OF EFFICIENCY ON SLAT ANGLES OF MICROGROOVED SOLAR-CELLS, Solar energy materials and solar cells, 30(1), 1993, pp. 47-59
The short circuit current of a monocrystalline silicon solar cell can
be enhanced further by suitably modifying the slat angle of its microg
roove surface due to reduction in reflection coefficient and increase
in optical trapping with decreasing slat angle. In this paper the depe
ndence of I(sc), V(oc) and eta of a solar cell on the slat angle have
been computed taking into account the variation of the reflection coef
ficient with the slat angle. It is observed that I(sc) increases while
V(oc) decreases significantly with decreasing slat angles leading to
a maximum efficiency of about 22% corresponding to a slat angle range
lying between 30-degrees and 45-degrees without antireflection coating
. However, the efficiency can be increased further to about 25% with A
R coating.
