A. Vallribera et al., STEREOCHEMICAL AND REGIOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON THE ALKYLATION OF PENTANE-2,4-DIONE THROUGH ITS CO(II) COMPLEX, Tetrahedron, 49(29), 1993, pp. 6451-6462
Stereochemical and regiochemical results on the alkylation of pentane-
2,4-dione with benzyl and allyl halides, through its Co(II) complex in
concentrated chloroform solution are interpreted in terms of the mech
anistic scheme proposed in the preceding paper,1 and they suggest a fa
st starting material isomerization in the presence of cobalt species.
Therefore, the reaction occurs under Curtin-Hammett preequilibrium con
ditions.
