Abstract
Activity-dependent synaptic weakening is likely to be involved in nume rous types of developmentally regulated cortical plasticity. The possi ble roles of two models of synaptic weakening, homosynaptic- and heter osynaptic-long-term-depression (LTD), are discussed. Metabotropic glut amate receptors (mGluRs) as they relate to LTD and ocular dominance pl asticity will also be considered.
