Sm. Dudek, A DISCUSSION OF ACTIVITY-DEPENDENT FORMS OF SYNAPTIC WEAKENING AND THEIR POSSIBLE ROLE IN OCULAR DOMINANCE PLASTICITY, J PHYSL-PAR, 90(3-4), 1996, pp. 167-170
Activity-dependent synaptic weakening is likely to be involved in nume
rous types of developmentally regulated cortical plasticity. The possi
ble roles of two models of synaptic weakening, homosynaptic- and heter
osynaptic-long-term-depression (LTD), are discussed. Metabotropic glut
amate receptors (mGluRs) as they relate to LTD and ocular dominance pl
asticity will also be considered.
