Abstract
Several forms of experience-dependent synaptic plasticity, long-term s ynaptic potentiation (LTP), and long-term depression (LTD) depend upon activation of NMDA receptors. Consideration of a theoretical synaptic 'learning rule' suggests how these types of plasticity are related in visual cortex.
