Nonsalivary choristomas of the oral cavity are rare, have a predilecti
on for the tongue, and are classified according to their generative ti
ssues as gastroenteric, thyroidal, or sebaceous. Only the lingual thyr
oid choristoma has a malignant counterpart. Lingual teratomas are even
rarer. They have been histologically benign.
