Abstract
Academic support services are a vital component of any institution of higher education. Faced with demands for better services during times of budgetary constraints and personnel cutbacks, colleges and universi ties must turn increasingly to expanded automated services to meet stu dent needs. Northwestern State University of Louisiana prepared a comp rehensive development plan that included goals, objectives, a timetabl e, and funding for strengthening its academic support services. Univer sity officials identified Title III of the Higher Education Act of 196 5, as amended, as a potential source of funds to support this project.
