AGRICULTURAL POLYMERS WITH HERBICIDE FERTILIZER FUNCTION .3. POLYUREAS AND POLY(SCHIFF BASE)S BASED SYSTEMS

Monomeric dihydrazide derivatives of 2,4-D (MCPA) derivatized tartrate and glutarate have been prepared. A group of polymeric herbicides has been synthesized by polycondensation of reactions of 2,4-D derivatize d dihydrazides either with HMDI to form polyureas or terephthaldehyde to form poly(Schiff base)s. The effect of structure and temperature of the aqueous environment on the hydrolysis rates of the obtained polym ers have been investigated. The amounts of the released 2,4-D were eva luated by measuring the u.v. absorbance of the supernatant solution at different intervals.
