Abstract
Starting from easily accessible alpha-allylated cycloheptanones, cis- and trans-fused perhydroazulenes have been prepared by palladium-catal ysed cyclization of 1,6-enynes. The resulting dienes could be oxidized selectively at either exo-methylene group.
