2 DEATHS INVOLVING ISOFLURANE ABUSE

Two deaths due to isoflurane abuse are reported. One case was a suicid e and the other a multiple drug death including isoflurane. A simple h eadspace gas chromatographic method was used for isoflurane quantitati on. A review of the literature did not reveal blood and tissue concent rations of isoflurane. Drug tissue distributions and a discussion of t he toxicological findings are presented.
