Abstract
A novel virus associated with acute and chronic hepatitis has been clo ned and characterized, The single-stranded RNA genome is approximately 9000 nucleotides long and has the structure of a virus in the Flavivi ridae family. The genes of the virus have been identified and characte rized by a number of molecular techniques and a genetic map has been d etermined.
