COMPOSITION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE FISH COMMUNITIES OF RIO-PARDO, INTHE VICINITIES OF EUCLIDES DA CUNHA RESERVOIR, SAO-PAULO, BRAZIL

During Setember/91 samples were taken above and bellow the Euclides da Cunha reservoir, to survey the influence of the impoundment on the co mposition and distribution of the ictiofauna of the upper reaches of r io Pardo, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Communities analyses were made using the indices of similarity, diversity and homogeneity. The diversity and th e homogeneity of the fish assemblages decrease on the area of the rese rvoir. Some species considered by some authors as ''piracema'' fishes still reproduces above the dam, using the tributary rivers as growth a nd spawning areas.
