Complexes of the type [MXX'{eta2-(PPh2)3CH}] (M = Pd, X = X' = Cl (1),
Br (3), C6F5 (6); X = Cl, X' = C6F5 (4); M = Pt X = X' = Cl (2), C6F5
(7); X = Cl, X' = C6F5 (5)) have been obtained by reaction of palladi
um or platinum compounds with HC(PPh2)3. The P-31(H-1) NMR spectra of
these complexes indicate that one of the P atoms of the triphosphine r
emains uncoordinated and allows the synthesis of polynuclear complexes
such as [(C6F5)2M{eta3-mu2-(PPh2)3CH)Pt(C6F5)2(CO)] (M = Pd (9), Pt (
10)) and [{(C6F5)2M(eta3-mu2-(PPh2)3CH)}2Au] (ClO4) (M = Pd (11), Pt (
12)). The structure of these complexes has been established using P-31
{H-1) and F-19 NMR spectra.
