T. Pollak, ENLIGHTENMENT OR COUNTER-ENLIGHTENMENT - ON SOME PSYCHOANALYTIC MYSTIFICATIONS IN MELTZER,D. DREAMLIFE, Forum der Psychoanalyse, 9(2), 1993, pp. 140-148
Meltzer's concept of the ''dreamlife'' takes the unconscious process t
o be a continuous flux of our inner life finding its particular form o
f manifestation in dreaming. The categories symbol, unconscious and tr
ansference are utilized in a discussion of Meltzer's theories. In the
second part of his argument the author criticizes a tendency to counte
r-enlightenment displayed for him in a leaning of Meltzer's towards a
magical mode of thought and uniform interpretation of the world.
