Abstract
Bacterial motility was evaluated as a potential tool for the rapid ass ay of the toxicity of chemicals to microorganisms. The level of toxici ty was evaluated by the chemical concentration which caused a 50% redu ction in motile bacteria at the 60 s of exposure to toxicants. Assay r esults showed a good correlation with those obtained from a convention al growth inhibition test.
