THE SYNTHESIS AND CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE OF 1,2,3-TRI(PHENYLPHOSPHANO)[3]FERROCENOPHANE

1,2,3-Tri(phenylphosphano)[3]ferrocenophane has been prepared by the r eaction of 1,1'-dibromoferrocene with LiP(Ph)-P(Ph)-P(Ph)Li, and its c rystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The P-P bond lengths are 2,231(3) and 2.229(3) angstrom and the P-P-P bond angle i s 93.5(2)-degrees. The cyclopentadienyl rings are inclined at an angle of 3.43-degrees to each other and the pseudo six-membered ring, C(1)C (6)FeP(1)P(2)P(3), is in a chair conformation.
