Abstract
Hydroxylation of 5alpha-androstan-3-one and 3,6-dione by C. aphidicola takes place at C-17beta and, in the case of The latter, at C-5alpha. The fungus reduces 5alpha-androstan-17-one and the 3,17-dione to the 1 7beta-alcohols.
