Abstract
An experimental investigation of an axially extracted virtual cathode oscillator is presented. The effect of the external magnetic field on the microwave output is studied. Maximum output power of 5 +/- 2 MW in the transverse electric (TE) modes is obtained. The microwaves are ge nerated by the transmitted electron flow.
