Abstract
The spectral coupling characteristics in asymmetrical twin-core optica l fibres under fusion tapering are investigated experimentally. It is found that appropriate filtering can be achieved by fusion tapering. I t is evident that, with suitable choice of tapering length and fibre p arameters, it is possible to fabricate economic all-fibre bandpass fil tering devices for various applications.
