Abstract
Iron tricarbonyl complexes of acyclic conjugated dienes undergo Friede l-Crafts reactions with alkoxychloromethanes to give selectively cis- or trans-alkoxy penta-2,4-diene complexes, depending on the work-up co nditions. With thiochloroformates, the reaction leads to complexed cis -thiopentadienoates. These Friedel-Crafts products are valuable starti ng complexes for the synthesis of other one-carbon terminally function alized dienes.
