The Letter presents an improved modification of the upper bound on err
or probability of the canonical binary system with additive interferen
ce and Gaussian noise. The proposed modification is illustrated by a s
inusoidal interference example. It is shown that in this case, for a s
ignal-to-noise ratio of 0dB and signal-to-interference ratio of 3dB, t
he modified upper bound is 9% larger than the exact value, which is ap
proximately 8.5 times smaller than the error resulting from the Prabhu
upper bound on error probability.
