A method for predicting flow in diffusers with inlet swirl has been de
veloped. Solutions of the pressure flux-split reduced Navier-Stokes eq
uations are obtained for flows in axisymmetric diffusers. Viscous-invi
scid interactions and flow fields with toroidal recirculation regions
are efficiently captured. The computational model is verified by compa
rison with experimental data and other computations. The extreme sensi
tivity to grid, turbulent closure model and inlet profiles is discusse
d.
