Abstract
Thorium nitrate-impregnated silica gel layers were utilized for the se paration of zinc, cadmium, thallium and mercury from seawater and indu strial wastewater. Some common pesticides, namely malathion, carbaryl, carbofuran and bavistin, do not impair the separation and detection o f the above-mentioned toxic metals in seawater and industrial wastewat er. Detection limits of these toxic metals are reported.
